Are tables extracted?

Table cell text is extracted in row-by-row order with tab separation. Complex table formatting is not preserved.

Does it work with .doc (old Word format)?

No. Only the modern .docx format (Office Open XML) is supported. Old .doc files need to be converted in Word first.
